Workshops 

Our workshops are open to all currently enrolled students and meet on the Twin Cities campus or online. There is a $25 fee for on campus workshops, but all online workshop are free. Students register for workshops online using the menu below. To cancel a workshop, students must email the writing center at write@smumn.edu 48 hours before the start of the workshop.

SSVC300: Introduction to APA Source Citation (7th Ed.)

This workshop is designed for students new to APA style. Learn APA guidelines for basic source citations in text and on the reference page. Learn to find APA source information in electronic databases and on the Internet. The emphasis is on APA rule patterns and using the manual efficiently.

This online workshop teaches the basics of how to create APA Tables and Figures in Microsoft Word.

Writing Lab Course 

The writing lab is a self-guided course that helps prepare students to write academic style papers. The focus of this course is APA basics and academic voice. The course runs for the first two weeks of each semester with about 2-4 hours of work per week.

Multilingual/ESL Summer Intensive 

For Multilingual/ESL students: SGPP students who want to strengthen their command of American academic English can join the free “Multilingual/ESL Summer Intensive” wherein you have regular 1-1 consultations at your convenience with our Writing Center’s ESL Specialist, Professor Molly Lohnes, to work on your writing and/or speaking skills.  The program runs from June 1st through August 14th, 2023.
